Am I the perfect Chiropractic Patient

Skimming stone

People often ask me if I get adjusted regularly, and the answer is a resounding yes! In fact, I’ve been receiving chiropractic adjustments consistently since I was 18 years old, ever since I embarked on my journey to study Chiropractic at university. It’s been a significant part of my life and has shaped my understanding of health and well-being.

But does that make me the ideal chiropractic patient? Unfortunately, I might just win the prize for the worst chiropractic patient! Most weekends, you can find me at the beach in Cleethorpes, wearing a rubber suit and eagerly launching myself into the sea, completely carefree. While I am deeply passionate about chiropractic care, my second love is kitesurfing. No matter the weather conditions, whether it's a scorching summer day filled with sunbathers or a freezing winter day when the beach is deserted, kitesurfing is where I truly find my happiness.

Over the years, I’ve experienced my fair share of wipeouts while kitesurfing, and each one seems to leave its mark—literally and figuratively. The adrenalin rush that comes with cutting through the wind and skimming across the water can quickly turn into a jarring reality check when things go wrong. I’ve had countless moments where the sudden impact of hitting the water at high speeds felt like crashing into concrete, leaving me with sharp jolts of whiplash.

There have been times when a gust of wind or a miscalculated maneuver sent me soaring into the air, only to come crashing down, straining my back from the violent force of the landing. My body has endured numerous cuts and bruises from accidental collisions with my board or other obstacles in the water. On a couple of particularly rough occasions, I’ve even broken ribs after being launched onto the sand during an ungraceful beach landing—those crashes hurt more than just my pride. Sometimes the problems aren't even the same day, sometimes there's a not-so-lovely surprise waiting for me when I try to get out of bed. My lower back might ache, or there could be a nagging pain in my shoulder that I didn't even notice the night before.

I’m incredibly fortunate to have a long-suffering chiropractor, AKA Chattie. Despite my reckless enthusiasm for kitesurfing and my tendency to push my body to its limits, she is always there to provide the necessary adjustments and support my body’s healing and recovery. No matter how many times I might risk injury with my adventurous pursuits, I know I can count on her expertise to help me bounce back and get ready for the next round of exhilarating, body-smashing activities.

It’s important to note that having regular chiropractic care doesn’t make us immune to the challenges and rigors of life. Instead, it equips us with the tools to recover more effectively when we’ve pushed ourselves a bit too far. So, while I may not fit the mold of a perfect chiropractic patient, I truly value the care I receive and the way it enables me to fully embrace my passions. If you are like me and have a tendency to abuse your body but don't want to let it get in the way of you enjoying life, then give us a call and let us help you.
